A shared vision
Oxford Health
Oxford Health is one of the largest mental and community physical health NHS trusts in the country, and Oxford is the only city in the UK to have two Biomedical Research Centres, one of which is focused entirely on brain research.
We provide services from a number of sites across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, West Berkshire, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire. One of those is the 200 year-old Warneford Hospital in Oxford, which is no longer fit for purpose to provide people with the modern clinical facilities they deserve.
New centre at Warneford Park
We are creating a £500m centre for mental health and brain sciences on the existing Warneford Hospital site in Oxford.
A new generation of research will link fundamental discoveries to new clinical practices, treatments and globally-scalable pharmaceutical products, faster than ever before.
Better mental healthcare facilities and innovative new integrated models of care will transform outcomes — and lives — of local people needing admission as well as the wider NHS.
Clinical research
New state-of-the-art mental healthcare facilities will also power new clinical research – driving discoveries, and attracting global investment. Our partners are uniquely placed to lead this vital mission.
Capabilities
Together, with our partners, we bring proven expertise in Life Sciences, Genomics and mental health R&D, commercialisation across spin-outs and Big Pharma, and industry-academic-clinical partnerships.
We have unrivalled specialist capabilities here in Oxford, and lead major national NHS-university networks for mental health research — the new Mental Health Mission and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Mental Health Translational Research Collaboration.
Brain sciences
Warneford Park will anchor Oxford’s unique Brain Sciences cluster. Together we aim the tackle the world’s biggest health challenge — and create a £1billion+ annual growth opportunity for the UK.
