New optically pumped magnetometers (OPM) coming to Oxford

The Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity, led by Prof. Mark Woolrich, has been granted a cutting-edge piece of neuroimaging equipment – the Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPMs).

This addition represents a substantial advancement in our research infrastructure, improving our abilities to conduct neuroimaging research across different modalities. The implementation of OPMs in our new laboratory not only expands our research capacity but also positions us as leaders in scientific investigation within the brain technologies field.

Innovation UK (UK’s national innovation agency, UKRI) allocated funding to Cerca Magnetics Ltd. for the procurement of the OPM, subsequently provided to our research institute. This collaboration exemplifies a strategic partnership where governmental support enables industry innovation, ultimately empowering research institutions like ours to access technology for the aims of the BRC strategy.
